Contrast Between Subjects of Ancient Chinese And Western Arts

Abstract

Subject is one of the important elements of arts.Creators of arts have different cultural traditions and different art concepts,while the recipient of arts also have different aesthetic tastes and needs.Therefore,between ancient Chinese and Western arts,there are a lot of differences in the matter such as the choice of subjects or the meaning of works.Ancient Chinese artists of the emphasized the importance of harmony between man and nature,seeking a aesthetic taste out of it.This is the reason why landscape painting was so well-developed in ancient China.And in ancient the West,influenced by the Greek tradition of art and Renaissance thoughts,its artistic works,featured by paintings of people(including the human body) and social life,received great achievements.Contemporary artists should try to get some useful experience from the treasure house of ancient art,and pay attention not only to the choice of subject matter,but also the exploitation of the meaning of works.Only in this way can they create their works with a profound thought and noble moral values.
