Abstract
Cost evaluation was synchronized with the product development process by introducing cost estimates into the concurrent product development process. Engineering methods were developed for concurrent product development cost estimates. The cost estimation methods include a quick cost estimation method based on the product structure tree and a detailed cost estimation method based on material consumption. Product cost estimates at different design stages with feedback to designer can assure that the product design has high quality as well as good economics.
