Diagnostic value of double-balloon push enteroscopy in small intestine diseases

[Objective] To evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of double-balloon push enteroscopy in diseases of the end of ileum.[Methods] Twenty-seven cases suspected to suffer from diseases of the end of lieum,received double-balloon enteroscopy from April 2005 to September,and compared with the pathological diagnosis and operation.[Results] In twenty-seven cases,twenty-three positive lesions were detected or diagnosed by the enteroscopy and biopsy,the diagnostic yield was 85.2%.Among the twenty-three positive lesions,crohn's disease 6 cases,tuberculosis 5 cases,polyps 3 cases,blood capillary tumor 3 cases,vascular dilatation 3 cases,Ileum tumor 2 cases,muscle tumor 1 case.[Conclusion] The double-balloon push enteroscopy has the advantage of allowing direct visualization,taking biopsy specimens and treating under it,by which we can examine the entire small intestine safe and quickly.The double-balloon push enteroscopy is hopeful to become one of the most important examination methods in small intestinal diseases.Meanwhile,normal examination of colonoscopy in the end of ileum is helpful for us to find the positive lesions and promote the diagnostic positive rate of double-balloon push enteroscopy.
