Abstract

Objective:To study the effect of stability of streptozocin(STZ) for inducing diabetic model in mice. Methods:Ninety mice were randomly divided into A,B,C,D and E groups.A~E groups were once induced by STZ through intraperitoneal injection at 0h,1h,1.5h and 2h,respectively.The normal group(N group) was injected by buffered solution of citric acid/sodium citrate. The morbidity, death rate, weight and fasting blood glucose(FBG) were observed after 7 days. Results:The morbidity of A,B,C groups(≥80%) were higher than that of D,E groups(50%).The death rate of A,B groups were 25% and 15.4%.Other groups were not died.Compared with N group, the weight of A,B,C groups were obviously reduced(P0.01) and the FBG were significantly increased(P0.01,P0.05).Compared with A group, the weight and the FBG of N,D,E groups were obviously different(P0.01).Conclusion:A stable, reliable, useful animal model of diabetes could be induced by STZ,while the STZ was solved within 1h.
