Phacoemulsification and lens implantation after pars plana vitr ectomy for idiopathic macular holes

Objective To evaluate the clinical effective of phacoemulsification and lens implantation after pars plana vitrectomy for Idiopathic Macular Holes.Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of phacoemulsification and lens implantation after pars plana vitrectomy for Idiopathic Macular Holes on 32 consecutive eyes:21 eyes by scleral tunnel incision and others by corneal incision.Intraoperative and Postoperative complications as well as visual acuity were observed.Results In Postoperative three months,the best corrected visual acuity in all cases had improved in different degrees.0 01～0 1 were found in 4 eyes,0 1～0 3 in 11 eyes,0 3～1 0 in 17 eyes.Early Postoperative complications included corneal edema.Late Postoperative complications included secondary cataract in 6 eyes,which needed to treat by Nd:YAG laser,Reopening of macular hole in 1 eye.Conclusions As for cataract after par plana vitrectomy for Idiopathic Macular Holes,Phacoemulsification and lens implantation is an secure,effective,fewer postoperative complications method.
