Abstract

Emperors in the Southern Tang Dynasty in general showed infatuations with Buddhism,which had resulted in inattention to political affairs,dereliction of duties in the court,economic decadence,and enervation of the military forces.Meanwhile,the pro-religion ethos in the Southern Tang Dynasty has had an important impact on the literature of that era,which could find its full expression in the Ci-poetry of the Southern Tang Dynasty with Li Yu as a typical representative and in the creations of the school of reclusive poets.
