Abstract
Some scholars have suggested the national mainstream spi rit be reconstructed and that it be reconstructed by relying on the Confucian th oughts. This p aper points out that the viewpoint that we lack mainstream Chinese spirit and th at it must be reconstructed is not in accordance with the reality. Besides, it i s considered improper to reconstruct the mainstream spirit by mainly relying on the Confucian thoughts.
