Abstract

Lu Xun’s classical Chinese essays published while he studied in Japan are the main embodiment of his early ideas.The most powerful are words from the heart,highly praise the individual rather than the manyand compare before being selfconscious are three foci of Lu Xun’s self-examination of modernity.It is from these angles that Lu Xun put forward his ideas of building modern Chinese civilization.Without thoughts or the individual,then there would not be the consciousness of subjects.To a certain extent,these three propositions are the quest for answers towhat is the real modernityby a Chinese soul.
