Reforms Initiated by Lü Hui qing and Wang An shi

Lu Hui qing was not only a talented and learned scholar but also an outstanding statesman who strongly advocated reforms on the social evils of his time. He formedan intimate relationship with Wang An shi on the basis of common goal and ideal as well as mutual admiration.He made great contributions in the formulation of new laws, the carrying out of new government systems, the fight against the opposition party and the action of an important role in emergency. Lu Hui qing took the post of the Prime Minister and took up leadership in the reform on his own when Wang An shi resigned. His persistence and courage led him to defeat the attack from the opposition party in defense of the new laws and ensuring of their operations in the country. After Wang An shi regained his position of the Prime Minister, the two found themselves in constant disagreement on political ideas, government affairs and studies of classics. They finally separated and went different ways. Many historical accounts and reviews would pile criticism on Lu Hui qing for it, but as history has already proved, it is unfair and historically false.
