Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation between bone turnover markers and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Methods BMD value of the lumbar and femur was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorption meter. The 136 patients were divided into osteopenia group(63 cases) and osteoporosis group(73 cases) according to the BMD level. The serum bone turnover markers osteocalcin(N-MID),N-terminal propeptide of typeⅠprocollagen(PINP) and β collagen specific sequences(β-crosslaps) were detected by electrochemical luminescence method. Results There was no significant difference for serum N-MID,PINP,β-Crosslaps between osteopenia group and osteoporosis group(P0.05).Conclusion No significant correlation has been found between the levels of serum markers of bone turnover and BMD in patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis. The serum N-MID,PINP and β-crosslaps sould only reflect the level of bone remodeling in postmenopausal women while having limited value for diagnosis of osteoporosis.
