Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of early enteral nutrition on nutrional status and recovery of postoperative patients with gastric cancer. Methods 73 patients with gastric cancer were randomly divided into 3 groups:23 cases of parenteral nutrition(PN) group,32 cases of early enteral nutrition(EEN) group and 18 cases of control group. All patients weighed in the day before operation and the eighth day after operation. The patients received different nutritional support within 48 h after operation.Total protein, albumin, prealbumin, lymphocyte count were measured on the first day and the eighth day after operation.Intestinal function recovery time, hospitalization duration and average cost of nutritional support were observed. Results All groups weight decreased on the eighth day after operation, the control group decreased significantly(P0.05).The EEN and PN group showed significantly increase in total protein, albumin, prealbumin, lymphocyte count compared with the control group(P0.05).Intestinal function recovery time and hospitalization duration in the EEN group were shorter than those in PN and the control group(P0.05);average cost of nutritional support in the EEN group were lower than those in PN and the control group(P0.05).Conclusion For the patients with gastric cancer, early enteral nutrition can improve the immune function and promote the patients recovery.
