Abstract

Acetyl salicylic acid(ASA) is a very effective protection material which exist in plant widely.Lactuca sativa is one kind of daily edible vegetables.Under normal temperature, they change yellow easily. In this article, the influence of ASA on fresh-keeping was investigated by spraying 10mM ASA on Lactuca sativa. The results showed that fresh weight and water content of both control and treatment Lactuca sativa increased along with the fresh-keeping course. But the situation was reverse to dry weight. The dry weight of treatment decreased lower than that of control.Chlorophyll and carotenoid contents and the efficiency of PSII photochemistry decreased too. However,Chlorophyll and carotenoid contents and the efficiency of PSII photochemistry of ASA-sprayed Lactuca sativa were all higher than that of control significantily. The results showed that the acetyl salicylic acid could delay the senescence of plant and played an important role in the preservation of Lactuca sativa.
