Resources and Exploitation of Poisonous Plants in Dabieshan,East of Hubei Province

The climate of Dabieshan in the east of Hubei province belongs to subtropical climate.There are 1461 species of vas-cular plants,belonging to 195 families,663 genera.Poisonous plants in Dabieshan are researched based on the known data and investiga-tion.The research results are as follows:(1) There are 158 species of poisonous plants(including subspecies and varieties),belonging to 70 families and 117 genera,which takes up 50% families and 12.2% species of the total national poisonous plants;Among them,there were 3 pteridophytes(belonging to 3 families and 3 genera),3 gymnosperms(belonging to 3 families and 3 genera) and 147 angiosperms(belonging to 62 families and 108 genera);(2)According to poisonous parts,56 species is all poisonous,which takes up 35.4%,being the most part in the poisonous plants;Roots of 53 species are poisonous,accounting for 33.5%;Leaves of 28 species are poisonous,account-ing for 17.7%;Fruits and seeds of 24 species are poisonous,accounting for 15.2%;Flowers of 2 species are poisonous,accounting for 1.3%;(3)According to ecological habit,there are 72 woody plants,68 herbs and 18 vines,accounting for 45.6%,43.0%,11.4% of the to-tal poisonous plants in this area,respectively.Then the resources of these plants are evaluated,and protection and exploitation strategies are suggested.It provides important data for developmentand utilization of the resources reasonably.
