Abstract

Objective: To summarize current clinical acupuncture treatment for ischemic stroke and analyze the insufficiency and development prospects of the treatment. Methods: Collecting, analyzing and summarizing almost 100 articles published in the last decade on acupuncture treatment for ischemic stroke. Results: The shortcoming of simple acupuncture treatment for ischemic stroke had been gradually revealed in clinical study over the last decade.More and more doctors began to treat ischemic stroke with combined methodologies, such as combining acupuncture with medication, acupuncture with rehabilitation and acupuncture with new medical devices, etc. The curative results were satisfactory. Conclusion: Acupuncture has positive effects on treating ischemic stroke. However, acupuncture alone is insufficient to treat ischemic stroke.Better results will be achieved through combined application of acupuncture and various medical measures.
