Abstract
In this study the antioxidant activity of lotus leaves has been extensively investigated. The results indicated that methanolic extracts of lotus leaves showed stronger antioxidant activity, which exhibited 74% inhibition on peroxidation of linoleic acid, greater than that of α-tocopherol, but equal to that of BHA. The extracts were separated six fractions by TLC, two of which (Rf=0.88 and Rf=0.80) exhibited remarkable antioxidant activities.
