The Translation in Late Qing Dynasty and the Politics of Translation

The politics of translation means the power relationship and control strategies embodied in the translation process. Taking the translations of YAN Fu, LIANG Qi-chao and LIN Shu as examples, whose thoughts had great influences on the society of the Late Qing Dynasty, the paper investigates the power relationship and control strategies reflected in their translation activities. It is hoped that the paper can deepen the understanding of the translation thoughts and practice in the Late Qing Dynasty and provide a sound envidence for the politics of translation in the context of modern China.
