Treatment of scaphoid fracture by hyperbaric oxygenation

Abstract

Objective To investigate the curative effect of hyperbaric oxygenation in patients with recent scaphoid fracture.Methods Sixty cases were divided into hyperbaric oxygenation group and the control group;in the hyperbaric oxygenation group,under 0.25 MPa pressure,patients inhaled pure oxygen for 60 minutes each day,and totally 30 times while in the control group patients received routine treatment.Results In the hyperbaric oxygenation group,29 cases recovered(96.7 %) while in the control group 22 cases recovered(73.3 %),and there was great difference between two groups( P 0.05 ).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygenation can promote the healing of scaphoid fracture.
