On Zhou Yu's Courage

Zhou Yu, the character in The Tale of Three Kingdoms, which is written by Luo Guan-zhong, a novelist at the end of Ming Dynasty and early of Qing Dynasty, was an image with contradictions. That is, on one hand, he was shallow-sighted and narrow-minded; on the other hand, he was talented and courageous enough to be admired by all the officers and soldiers. So far as his courage is concerned, it can be represented from his honesty and fighting spirit on allied with Liu Bei against Cao Cao and his selflessness on supporting monarch.
