Abstract
Drought stress has been one of the major constraint environmental factors which limit rice(Oryza satica L.)growth and development in ecosystem. Under the drought stress conditions, various physio-biochemical changes and drought-stress inducible genes would be induced and expressed to decrease the harm of drought stress. The paper reviewed the influence of drought stress on rice, the newest studies on drought resistance physio-biochemistry mechanism and drought resistant genes of rice and drought resistance breeding in rice. It affords the interrelated theoretical basis for enhancing drought tolerance in rice and breeding drought resistance rice cultivars.
