Abstract
Theme park design and operation is essentially a process of culture-transmission from the operators to the tourists. The article presented below will begin with an analysis of the basic characteristics of theme parks and accordingly break the transmission process into five closely connected steps. The second part of the paper will focus on the theme parks in China * examining the status quo and pointing out their problems. Five categories representing five stages of development will be set up and assessed. Presented in the conclusions part is a possible design of an operation and management network system concerning the nature and prospect of theme parks.
