Abstract

[Objective] The research aimed to discuss the efficiency of the coagulant aids of polyacrylamide grafted starch(PAM-g-St) flocculants modified from polyacrylamide.[Method] By using the test of the coagulation aid of high turbidity water, low turbidity water and wastewater, the efficiencies of the synthesized PAM-g-St(Ⅰ),PAM-g-St(Ⅱ),CPAM-g-St(Ⅲ) compounded with alum were studied and discussed.[Result] The results showed that 99% turbidity could be removed from high and low turbidity water samples,70%-92% turbidity of the sewage and 56%-69% chemical oxygen demand(COD) could be removed by the three synthesized coagulant aids.[Conclusion] The coagulation aid effects of PAM-g-St(Ⅰ),CPAM-g-St(Ⅱ) and CPAM-g-St(Ⅲ) were better than PAM for water from water sources, but they were not so effective for wastewater.
