Abstract

Abdication is the core mechanism of the ethnic integration in the pre-Qin period,whose conception changed in pace with assignments according to different times. At the beginning abdication pointed to wars and alliances. In Xia,Shang and Western Zhou Dynasties,abdication was replaced by hereditary system,while the theory of abdication came to exist in two ways. In the middle of the Warring States,the theories of abdication bloomed so that the social reorganization based on property and the new moral for the individuals comprised of the pattern of ethnic integration of that time. This paper argues that as the development of history,wars and alliances as the key factors of integration gave place to economic,social and cultural measures. The pattern of ethnic integration would be enriched as the political community strengthened by its common will.
