Abstract
In order to inspect the submarine cable shield insulation, this paper studies the shield insulation according to the shield current and based on the cable's configuration, parameter and operation condition. With the model of inductive current and capacitance current based on Matlab, the paper discusses the characteristic of the inductive current and the capacitance current under the fault circumstance of the cable shield insulation in detail. The research discovers that when the submarine cable shield insulation has grounding problem, the inductive current in the shield is not influenced very much, while the capacitance current not only reflect the shield insulation's problem, but also can localize the position of the failure cable.
