The Discussion of the Transnasal Endoscopy in the Surgery at Base of Skull

Abstract

Objective:To explore the scope of endoscopic transnasal approaches in the surgery at base of skull.Method:To analyse eleven cases with cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea,pituitary tumor,encephalomeningocele,sphenoid sinus cyst and ethmoid sinus tumor,were analyzed from 1998 to 2004 and beening followed up for 6 months to 6 years.Result:None of the 11 cases hand relapse,with no major complications.Conclusion:Endoscopic transnasal approaches in the surgery of the base of skull had a favorable prospect,and it was a safe,convenient﹑and applicable procedure for the management of certain lesions at base of skull.
