Abstract
To establish a reliable method of measuring intestinal permeability,mannitol and lactulose were employed as probes and twenty urine samples of healthy volunteers were measured using high pressure liquid chromatography with pulsed electrochemical detection(HPLC PED).As a result,mannitol and lactulose in all 20 urine samples were detected.The lowest concentration of mannitol and lactulose was 0.2028 mg/L and 0.1930 mg/L and the recovery rate was 98.2% and 104.3%respectively.It is concluded that the method of measuring mannitol and lactulose in the urine using HPLC PED was a rapid,simple,sensitive one which could be usde to measure intestinal permeability.
