Comparison on the Differences between English and Chinese Words in Terms of Cultural Connotation

Language is closely related with culture and reflecting culture.By denoting the connotative meaning of the English words and illustrating the basic three modes when the transferring between an English word and its corresponging word in Chinese occurs,this paper tries probe into reasons for why there are differences between English and Chinese words in terms of cultural connotation,discusses the different meaning scopes of the equivalents of the two languages,and gives some intresting examples when expressions of different languages share the same cultural connotation.Furthermore,the paper strengthens the importance of acquiring cultural connotation when language learning happens.
