Investigation and Analysis of Overweight and Obesity on Children Aged 3-7 years in Runzhou District Zhenjiang City

Objective To investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity in urban Runzhou Children aged 3-7 years.Methods 782 data were randomly selected(male: 471,female: 311) among the information of maternity and child care center got in he year of 2010.The data(weight,height) were used to calculate BMI,and was calculated abide the Height-weight standard method.Then the data were studied.Results The overweight rates of male and female study subjects were 14.44% and 8.68%,and the rates of obesity were 2.34% and 1.93%.The rates of overweight and obesity were 16.78% in male subjects and 10.61% in female.The rate of overweight was nearly 6 times and 4.5 times as much as obesity rate in male and female.Conclusion The portion of overweight and obesity in urban Runzhou male children was higher than that of female.The rates of overweight and obesity in urban Runzhou children was lower than that of other cities.The portion of obesity was as several times as much overweight rate,so some measures should be taken to protect children from becoming overweight and to control the tendency of obesity from overweight.However,compared with the data of last 5 years,there was a lowing tendency of the overweight portion,which possibly lied to the changed life-style of the modern.
