Abstract

The performance and emission characteristics were investigated when a TDI(turbocharged direct-injected) diesel engine was fueled with the blend of diesel fuel and GTL(gas to liquids) fuel.The influence of the blend fuel with different blending ratio on power,fuel consumption,smoke and NOx emission was investigated without any engine modification.The results show that the power and fuel consumption are reduced when the engine is fueled with GTL fuel,the lowering degree of the power and fuel consumption relates to the fuel blending ratio,but the power characteristic of G50 fuel is better than that of the traditional diesel fuel and the fuel economy of G50 is similar to G100.With the rise of the blending ratio of GTL fuel,the smoke and NOx emission tend towards significant reduction.The EGR rate of the engine can be enlarged when GTL diesel fuel is used as alternative fuel.
