Abstract
A high-efficiency alkane-degrading bacterium xcz was isolated from crude oil,and identified as pseudomonas sp.according to its morphological observation, physiological and biochemical features, and analysis of 16S rDNA sequences.Bacterium xcz could grow with n-octadecane as its sole carbon source, and in the mineral medium containing 500 mg/L n-octadecane degrade 97.5% of n-octadecane after 40 h incubation. The most suitable temperature and pH for its degradation of n-octadecane was 37~C and pH 7.0.The bacterium was able to degrade C_(13)~C_(32)n-alkanes in high concentration crude oil(2 g/L)and its degrading rate of C_(13)~C_(24)was higher than 80%.
