Abstract
In the present study,a simple method of estimating the plastic rotation of beams was studied to realize performance-based design of buildings. Firstly, the composition of steel-frame story drift was introduced. Secondly, the expressions to estimate the plastic rotation of beams, addressing moment redistribution, plastic mechanism and strain-hardening effect of steel, were developed on the basis of strong column-weak beam and strong connectionweak connected member. Finally,a case study of 6-story plane steel-frame was carried out, which shows good agreement between nonlinear static analytic results by SAP2000 and the results obtained by the proposed method.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
