Abstract

Riparian areas have important ecological, social, economic and tourist value. Based on ecology, geomorphology and hydrology, riparian study involves a wide range of disciplines and technologies, studies on basic theories and methods of riparian in China are very poor. The riparian concept,riparian vegetation functions,ecological restoration theories,methods and riparian management are discussed.
