Abstract

The purpose of guidance is to cause a collision between a missile and a specified target.Accordingly, the performance of guidance systems can generally be quantified in terms of the miss distance between the missile and target. The current miss distance analysis is only limited to numerical calculation or approximate analysis based on simplified models. This paper develops the relationship between the zero effort miss distance and the parameters of a generic homing guidance system based on adjoint technology and spectrum method.Major system parameters considered here include step target acceleration,time-to-go,guidance dead zone, effective navigation ratio, and missile body dynamics. The approximate analytical solution of zero effort miss distance is obtained via the spectrum method. The analysis and simulation show that the proposed method presented in this paper can be used to synthesize some of the major subsystem specifications for homing missile guidance system.
