Abstract
Objective To establish a more ideal animal model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO).Methods In rats,a fine and glossy nylon thread which was 0.205mm in diameter was introduced into the right cervical internal carotid artery, till the intromitting length equal 15~18mm to block blood flow of MCA,then the changes of neurological syndromes and morphology of brain tissue were observed. Results After MCAO, special neurological syndromes were showed by rats, the infarct surface in the area of MCA (TTC coloring, after MCAO 6h) and corresponding changes of brain tissue (HE staining) were appeared. The success rate of the model reached 83%. Conclusion A reversible model of regional cerebral ischemia in rats was developed, the reliability of which could be evaluated by neurological syndromes.
