Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupoint sticking in treating allergic rhinitis. Methods 60 patients were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group, 30 patients of each group. White mustard, fumaric, asarum and Kennedy in 2:2:1:1 ratio and ground to fine powder and mixed into paste with ginger juice for acupoint sticking of the treatment group. Flour was used to replace the herbs to make paste with ginger juice for acupoint sticking for the control group. Both groups chooses Da Zhui, Feng Men (double), Fei Shu (double), Gao Huang (double), Zhi Shi (double) to stick. The treatment was 1 time per 10 days, and 5 times for a course of treatment. Both groups were treated for 1 course. Clinical symptoms and signs wer recorded before and after treatment, and with 3 months follow-up after treatment. Results For the treatment group, clinical symptoms and signs scores after treatment and in the follow-up were all significantly reduced when compared with the control group (P0.05). For the control group, there were no significant changes except for the running nose(P0.05). Compared the total score of clinical symptoms and signs between the two groups after treatment and in the follow up the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group (P0.05). Conclusion Acupoint sticking can effectively improve the allergic rhinitis symptoms and signs.
