Abstract
The stability of the canal slope in the South-North Water Diversion(SNWD) Project is influenced by the expansiveness of the expansive soil. The middle route of SNWD in Nanyang part adopts the week expansive soil added with the cement to deal with the slope of expansive soil. This paper analyzes the mechanism that the test result of compactness,a quality control indicator, produces errors, which is caused by the decrease of the water content and cement content with the passage of time after the cement mixes with the soil. Also, the result is tested by the indoor experiments.
