Study on Enterprise Environmental Management Systems and Improvement

Environmental management is viewed as the control of all human activities that have significant impact on the environment.Currently,enterprises implement either BS EN ISO 14000:1996 or EMAS.Neither standard comment on the degree of control executed,the approach taken,or the effectiveness of the control.Thus they can not comment on overall performance.Taking as indicators of an enterprise,this paper aims at the development of current environmental management systems 14000:1996 and EMAS.Environmental performance evaluation guidelines are appraised,and quality awards as a conceptual framework for classification of environmental performance are introduced.
