Comparative Study of Pirarubicin And Adriamyicin on the Treatment of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Abstract

Objective:To compare the effects and toxicities of pirarubi cin-containing (CTOP)and adriamycin-containing(CHOP) combination chemotherapy on non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(NHL).Method:241 patients with NHL were treated with CTOP and CHOP respectively for more then 3 cycles,repeated every 3 weeks.Results:Com plete response rates of CTOP and CHOP were 46.1% and 41.6% respectively.Overall response rates were 85.9% and 81.4% respectively.There were no difference betwee n the two groups.There were no difference in gastrointestinal,hematologic and c ardiac toxicities between the two groups.Incidence of hair loss in two groups we re 31.4% and 70.8% respectively.There was a significant difference in hair loss between the two groups.Conclusion:The efficacy of CTOP on NHL is similar to tha t of CHOP.hair loss in CTOP is milder than CHOP.Long-term efficacy must be studied further.
