Peptic ulcer treated with sucralfate

Abstract

AIM: To study the therapeutic effect of sucralfate suspension on peptic ulcer disease. METHODS: seventy- four patients with peptic (51 duodenal, 23 gastric) ulcer were treated with sucralfate suspension 5 mL (1.0g), ac, qid, for 4 wk and 6 wk, separately. Other 25 patients with peptic (17 duodenal, 8 gastric) ulcer were treated with sucralfate tablets. RESULTS: The total excellent response rates of sucralfate suspension for duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer were 90 % and 87%, respectively, and of the tablet group were 53% and 62%, respetively ( P0.01) . CONCLUSION : Sucralfate suspension has a therapeutic effect on peptic ulcer.
