Abstract
Objective:To compare the therapeutic effect differences between acupuncture by syndrome differentiation and western medicine therapy for functional dyspepsia.Methods:Seventy-two cases were randomly divided into an observation group(n=36) and a control group(n=36).The observation group was treated with acupuncture of ST36(Zusanli),PC6(Neiguan),ST25(Tianshu),CV12(Zhongwan) and other acupoints by syndrome differentiation for 30 min once daily,6 times as a course,2 courses all together. The control group was treated with oral administration of itopride tablet 50 mg/time,three times a day for 12 days. After treatment, there was a 2-month follow-up later.Symptom curative effect index, the MOS 36-Item Short-Form Health Survcy(SF-36) were recorded at baseline,in the beginning and at the end of the treatment and 2 months followed-up.Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 94.1% which was better than that of the control group 63.9%(P0.01).After 2 months followed-up,the effect of the observation group was superior to that of the control group on symptom total scores(P0.01).Improvements of SF-36 in the observation group were superior to those of the control group(P0.01).There was no obvious adverse reaction in the two groups of patients.Patients were able to tolerate. No case discontinue the treatment because of serious adverse reactions. Conclusion:Acupuncture by syndrome differentiaiton is an effective method for functional dyspepsia and its therapeutic effect is better than that of routine western medicine therapy. This method could be used as a optimal scheme on FD in clinical treatment, which not only could obviously improve the function of stomach and duodenum, enhance the quality of patients′lives, but also has a good long-term effect and no side effect.
