Abstract
The effectiveness of market structure or what market structure can promote the most optimum distribution of resources has always been the problem the economists endeavor to address.Through reviewing the researches on the effectiveness of market structure for over a hundred years,this paper categorizes it into three schools which are perfect competition is most desirable,market monopoly is reasonable and pursuing effective competition.The market structure is characterized by unity,dynamics,multidimensionality and specificity,therefore only by investigating market structure from the above perspectives can we comprehend and master the essence of market structure.
