Abstract

Objective:To study the neuroprotective mechanism of atorvastatin against the injury induced by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.Methods:The middle cerebral artery was occluded with thread according to modified Zealonga′s method.Wistar rats were randomly divided into:sham-operation group(Sham group),ischemia-reperfusion group(IR group),atorvastatin treatment group(AT group). The expressions of CD40L,MMP-3 in brain tissues were measured by immunohistochemical methods. Results:The expressions of CD40L,MMP-3,neurologicol scores, subtract brainedema in AT group were lower than those in IR group(P0.01),significantly higher than those in sham group(P0.01).Conclusion:Atorvastatin can protect neural function by downregulating CD40L、MMP-3 expressions during focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.
