Observation on Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Catgut Embedding

Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical curative effects of catgut embedding and medication on irritable syndrome.Methods Sixty patients with irretable bowel syndrome were allocated by stratified random sampling to treatment and control groups,30 cases each.The curative effects were compared between the two groups after treatment.Tianshu(ST 25) and Shangjuxu(ST 37),and Zhongwan(CV 12) and Zusanli(ST 36) were selected and alternately used in the treatment group.The control group was given oral pinaverium bromide 50 mg(diarrhea type) or cisapride 5 mg(constipation type) 3 times daily.Results The cure rate and the total efficacy rate were markedly higher in the treatment group than in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Catgut embedding has a good curative effect on irritable bowel syndrome.
