Study on Resources-Based Spatial Distribution of Cities Based on City Competitiveness

The paper summarizes the existing definition principle of resource-based cities.Based on these existing principles,the author conducts definition and classification of resource-based cities in China.The 51 above prefecture level resources-based cities have been defined and the space distribution law of these cities have been analyzed in terms of geography space and competitiveness of cities.Through the study,it is found that resource-based cities in China are mostly located in the Midwest and the regions near the North.Competitiveness is a comprehensive reflection of the city.Those cities which are ranked forward have several characteristics in common in terms of resource type and the conditions of geography location.We can effectively reduce the negative impact caused by resources on urban development by improving the local geographical location to some extent.
