The Aesthetic Character and Cultural Significance of the Illustration Narrative in Novels Printed in Jiangnan during Ming and Qing Dynasty

As a mature form of illustrations in novels in Ming and Qing Dynasty,the illustration narrative in novels printed in Jiangnan absorbed successful experiences of Jianyang novels,and realized the deep conversion of ideographic paradigm and narrative mode.It further reinforced the production of the literary spatial significance,consummated the pre-narrative function and spillover effects,constructed the complicity form among the text,illustration and commentary,and reflected the literati tendency full of the geographical characteristics,which made novel a successful example of literary classics.
