Abstract

Objective To compare the disparities of coronary artery lesion and percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)between patients with different glycometabolic status in the early phase of acute myocardial infarction. Methods Consecutive 99 AMI patients without known diabetes underwent continuous glucose monitoring.Glucose monitor was done by checking fasting and 2-hour postprondial capillary glucose for 72 horus.Patients with different glycometabolic status were compared in terms of coronary artery lesion and PCI.Results Compared to patients with normglycemia and transient hyperglycemia, patients with persistent hyperglycemia presented with higher prevalence of triple-vessal disease(χ2=28.75,P0.01)more calcification lesion(χ2=4.21,P0.05)and long lesion(χ2=4.01,P0.01),higher Gensini score(χ2=5.18 for Q3,P0.05;χ2=9.67 for Q4,P0.01,but lower success rate of PCI(χ2=6.91,P0.05).Conclusion Patients with persistent hyperglycemia following acute myocardial infarction was associated with severer coronary artery lesion and lower success rate of PCI.
