Microscopically selective posterior rhizotomy for the treatment of cerebral palsy in children

Objective To investigate the clinical effect o f selective posterior rhizotomy und er microscope in children with cereb ral palsy.Method32cases of spastic palsy in lower extremities were collected for this stu dy,age from 4years to 12years,electrical stimu-lation or microtechnique were applied to this protocol,rhizotomy was performed according to different segm ents and different rate,muscular tension were examined after operation.Results Spastic palsy in lower extremities d isappeared in 25cases of children,i mproved in 7cases,difficulty in urination were appare ntly relieved in this series,no severe complication and death was observ ed,19cases were follow-up for 6months ～4years,and no recurrence wa s identified.Conclusion Selective posterior rhizotomy under microscope is an effective method f or curing cerebral palsy in children.
