Abstract

The micelle aggregation number(Nagg) of Gemini cationic surfactants N,N'-alkyl-2-hydroxyl-N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl diamonium dichloride(abbreviated as GCnNCl2,n =12,14,16),was determined by steady-state fluorescence measurements in the temperature range of 20~35 oC,the pyrene as the fluorescence probe and diphenyl ketone as the quencher. The results indicated that Nagg of GCnNCl2 increases linearly with the increasing surfactant concentration within a certain concentration range, but the micropolarity of pyrene decreases with the increasing concentration.
