Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to estimate heterotic groups and heterotic pattern of a set of 20 newly elite high oil corn inbred lines from four high oil corn populations named BHO(Beijing high Oil),ALEXHO(Alexander High Oil),RYDHO(Reid Yellow Dent High Oil) and SYN DO(Synthetic Diseased Oil).Five normal corn inbred lines Dan340,Mo17,7922,8701,K12 were taken as testers,which were the typical representatives of five main heterotic groups named Lvda Red Cob,Lancaster,Reid,Exotic germplasm and Tangsipingtou in China.100 crosses from NCⅡdesign were grown in a randomized complete-block design experiment.The GCAs and SCAs of 4 yield characters were analyzed,and the 20 high oil inbreds were clustered using SCAs.The results showed that the inbred lines of BHO and SYN DO groups had the greatest GCA and SCA,these inbred lines can be used to produce high yield crosses.The 20 high oil inbred lines were divided into 4 heterotic groups,BY4846,RY697,GY462,SY1077,GY923,GY798,RY2830 could be taken as the first group;BY815,BY843,SY3073 could be taken as the second group;BY807,BY832,SY1039,RY740,RY783 could be taken as the third group;GY220,GY302,RY2846,SY1032,SY2985 could be taken as the fourth group.
