Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of traditional Chinese medical manipulation combined with continuous passive motion(CPM) machine training on the recovery of knee function in patients after total knee arthroplasty(TKA). Methods Fifty-five patients after TKA were randomly divided into experimental group(N=31) and control group(N=24). Patients of the control group received routine early rehabilitation training from the first day after TKA, while patients of the experimental group received traditional Chinese medical manipulation from the second day after TKA combined with CPM machine training from post-operative day 3 to 12 based on the routine early rehabilitation training. The treatment and lasted 12 days. The total scores and the scores of seven respects including pain, walking function, range of motion( ROM), myodynamia, flexion deformity, stability, and deduction item were compared between the two groups by using the American Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS) knee scoring system. Results On post-operative day 12, the experimental group had better effect than the control group on improving the total scores and the scores of pain, walking function, ROM and deduction item(P0.05), but the two groups had the similar effect on myodynamia, flexion deformity and stability(P0.05). And the excellent and good rate was 93.55% in the experiment group, and was 50.00% in the control group, the difference being significant( P 0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medical manipulation combined with CPM machine training is beneficial for the recovery of knee function in patients after TKA.
