Abstract
Young embryos of wheat were irradiated and cultured in vitro for selection of resistant mutants to powdery mildew.Several varieties including Longma 1,Lin 85-14,832556×F63 Fo,8361-4×PH82-2-2 Fo were tested from 1998 to 2000.The results indicated that powdery mildew resistant plant could be produced by cell culture and mutation.Comparing to the common variety, hybrid showed higher induction rate and more useful variations.Seven powdery mildew resistant plants,of which two plants show high resistance, were obtained from the rSC 1 generation of the variety 832556×F63.The characteristics of the powdery resistant plants include shorter and thicker leaves, darker leaf color, reduced plant height, decrease in 1000 kernel weight, and irregular changes of kernel numbers in spokes.
